2.0 Ingenium Timing Chain Stretch: P0016, P0341

The fault codes that make your heart sink “P0016: Camshaft/Crankshaft Correlation Error” or P0341 Camshaft Position Sensor 2 Range/Performance. On the 2.0 Ingenium JLR Diesel and Petrol Engines this usually indicates the timing chains have stretched, causing the camshaft and crankshaft to no longer be timed correctly with each other.

All 2.0 Ingenium Engines produced prior to 2019 are subject to this stretch/wear of the timing chain. Vehicle post 2019 were fitted with revised chains and intermediate sprocket.

When we fit new chains to these engines we fit the latest design parts to ensure this problem does not persist in the future.

The chain is located on the rear of the engine so it is a gearbox off job.
